Meet Lacy Bond (Sondra Currie). She's a hot prison guard in drag queen
makeup with a swift kick and a chip on her shoulder. After a daring
jail break where Lacy takes down over half the escapees, she's recruited
to go undercover and bust a group of violent female smugglers working
for "Ma." Lacy plans on taking down the entire racket with
only her tiny, feminine hands, but ends up joining forces with hot
male cop/potential love interest Frank Mitchell (Tony Young) and tough
as nails Pam (1969 Playmate Jeanie Bell), an ex con and escapee from
the very same prison break!

| The
Bond-esque title sequence, arguably the highlight of the film. |
I
wanted to like this movie. Considering director Lee Frost's filmmography
(The Defilers, Dixie Dynamite), I was expecting more.
And I've always been a big fan of Sondra Currie (older sister to
rockers Cherie and Marie) but it's pretty obvious that she couldn't
fight her way out of a paper bag. The irony is that Sondra can really
hold her own in the more sentimental scenes, which leads me to believe
she was meant for romantic comedies. In other words, MISCAST.

More naked, kick-ass black chicks, please. |

Still,
Policewomen is not without redeeming qualities. There's silly
acting, confusingly 'hip' dialog and nekked ladies spread throughout
the film (no pun intended). But it lacks the magic of the grindhouse
gems of yesteryear.
Rhino's
DVD comes with a funny trailer and not much else. If you're in the
mood for a slow moving action film with a travel montage thrown
in the middle, then Policewomen is right up your alley. Otherwise,
pull out your dusty copy of Coffey and see how it's done
right.
